The Food and Drug Administration authorizes the Pfizer vaccine for emergency use authorization in adolescents. According to the FDA, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was approved for 12-15-year-olds. The FDA amended the EUA of December 11th, 2020, for use of the vaccine in people over 16-years-old.
The FDA decided the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine met the criteria of the EUA. The FDA determined the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks.
The FDA's approval comes as parents and adolescents plan for spring and summertime activities.
