By Terri The youngest Olympian takes home gold for the 800 meter freestyle swim. 15-year-old Katie Ledecky flew through the race. Ledecky kept her lead throughout the competition. The youngster disregarded advice to pace herself for the 8 minute race. Her fellow U.S.A. team members cheered her on. The Olympian says she was inspired by Phelp's win. She looks like she's in shock in the after-the-fact interview. Ledecky is the youngest Olympian in the delegation.

By Terri Michael Phelps wins 17 gold medals in total by ten o clock last night. He's won 21 medals all together. I watched Phelps win the 100 meter Butterfly. Phelps won a three-peater, 3 consecutive gold medals. The celeb was glowing when an NBC reporter interviewed him. There's an Olympian whoops. A Russian competitor took the Olympic greats place in the middle of the podium, the place reserved for the gold medal winner. The Russian medalist was shooed to his side podium location.The mix up did not detract from Michael Phelps legendary win. Phelps says this will be his last Olympics.
