Teen Finds $40,000 Gold, ''Jungle Gold Competition" Hurting

Jungle Gold 's George Wright and Scott Lomu are having more troubles in their quest for gold. The friends have gone through the $150,000 budget in their Ghana, Africa search. According to Discovery, together the friends are about a million dollars in debt from prior real estate transactions. The buddies problems keep adding up. Wright and employee Victor camp overnight to ward illegal Chinese miners off their gold claim. Shots ring out. No one is harmed.  The rainy season left only one acre of dry land on their claim. They must pump the water out to be able to mine for gold. A team member bought a new pump to search for the precious ore. The new machine fell to its watery death. The team must carry large quantities of gasoline to the machines to keep them working. They are forced to carry the gasoline cans through dangerous Chinese miners' turf. The dramatic series Jungle Gold premieres last night on the Discovery Channel. The show stars two men who mine for gold in an attempt to pay off their serious debts.The friends were in real estate before the housing market crash. They could have bought properties before the unpredictable market turned. They said they have mortgages to pay off. George Wright and Scott Lomu travel to Ghana, Africa to search gold rich areas. They battle major obstacles to try and send money home. We learn one wife can't afford a couple hundred dollars for the families' health insurance payments. On their way to the mine they look to cross a bridge. Ironically, the locals demand a couple hundred bucks. Their guide talks the locals down to $20. Wright and Lomu's van gets stuck in the mud on the way to their claim. They finally arrive to find their claim overrun with illegal Chinese miners. They're the kind you don't want to reason with.
