Teen Finds $40,000 Gold, ''Jungle Gold Competition" Hurting

Jungle Gold's George Wright and Scott Lomu are having more troubles in their quest for gold. The friends have gone through the $150,000 budget in their Ghana, Africa search. According to Discovery, together the friends are about a million dollars in debt from prior real estate transactions.

The buddies problems keep adding up. Wright and employee Victor camp overnight to ward illegal Chinese miners off their gold claim. Shots ring out. No one is harmed.

The rainy season left only one acre of dry land on their claim. They must pump the water out to be able to mine for gold. A team member bought a new pump to search for the precious ore. The new machine fell to its watery death. The team must carry large quantities of gasoline to the machines to keep them working. They are forced to carry the gasoline cans through dangerous Chinese miners' turf.

Their excavator explodes and must be fixed before the engineer can arrive on site. Their investor again threatens to pull the plug because there's no ''gold in hand." He demands results.

The men finally find about $500 worth of gold. The video shows a small gold ball in Lomu's hand. He said they discovered 1/3 an ounce after great efforts.

Meanwhile, 'the competition,' Parker Schnabel and his team from Gold Rush find $40,000 worth of gold. Schnabel is an established Alaskan gold miner. His family mines. Parker is in charge of the claim. He is in his teens.

I'm not sure why the video's title is Tuesdays. Jungle Gold airs on Discovery Fridays and Saturdays. This evening Jungle Gold is on at 5 and 6pm MT.
