$1 Million in Jewelry Stolen at Cannes Film Fest
Thieves stole $1 million in jewelry from the Cannes Film Festival. The robbers tore a safe from the wall. The Associated Press reports the safe was in a hotel room near the festival.
French authorities announced the robbery Friday. They called the late night heist brazen.
Chopard is the victim of the heist. The company is known for bejeweling the famous.
The stolen jewelry was not from the collection worn by Cannes actresses.
Ironically the thieves made off with the jewels during the The Bling Ring screening. The movie is based on real life robberies at stars' homes.
There are newer reports a diamond necklace worth more than $2 million vanished from the festival. Models were reported to be wearing the jewelry. It is unclear what happened to the necklace.
