'Curse of Oak Island' team could be looking for a half-billion dollar treasure

The "Curse of Oak Island" team, led by the Lagina brothers and with their business partner Craig Tester,  could be looking for a half-billion-dollar treasure! The highlight of the Tuesday, April 9, 2019 episode was the author and researcher James McQuiston's claims he read about a treasure, seemingly tied to Oak Island, in five ancient books, worth a half-billion dollars.

James McQuiston researched ties from the Knights Templar to North America. McQuiston claimed James I of England tasked his friend Sir William Alexander with persuading Scottish clan chiefs to leave Scotland and settle for 3,000 merks or $30,000 today. Nobles could obtain a title for the Knights Baronets of Novia Scotia.

In 1625 the Baronets founded New Ross, Novia Scotia. McQuiston believed they went 20 miles North of Oak Island to New Ross, where the Laginas saw remnants of a Templar castle. The Baronets are connected to the Knights Templar.

Items found while drilling could be evidence of the Templar connection and the half-billion dollar treasure. Chappel and Blair drilled and discovered parchment with the letters VI and gold pieces on their drill bit. McQuiston believed the parchment and fragments for leather binding found by the Oak Island team could possibly be from the Alexander family.

The "Curse of Oak Island" team also discovered gold buttons and jewelry possibly linked to a list of the half-billion-dollar treasure McQuiston researched. The list and the finds seemed to be connected.
