Crew Films Robert Redford, Jane Fonda Movie in Colorado: Article

Netflix movie Our Souls at Night stars Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. Filmmakers made Our Souls at Night in Florence, Colorado Springs, and Denver, Colorado.

The movie is about elderly widow Addie Moore (Jane Fonda) who invites widower Louis Waters (Robert Redford) to spend the night just to talk. Moore's idea is to pass the time through the lonely nights with company. Eventually, romance blossoms but Addie and Louis find themselves in the middle of interference from nosy townspeople and even their children. Holly, Louis' daughter, is played by Judy Greer. She played Walden's ex-wife on Two and a Half Men. She also played Karen in Jurassic World, among her many other IMDB credits.

The last novel by Colorado author Kent Haruf is the basis for the movie Our Souls at Night. The film and book are set in the fictional town of Holt, Colorado. Filmmakers thought the picturesque town of Florence would be a perfect place to film for the fictional town of Holt.

People in Florence are excited to have crews filming there. Local shops and restaurants have seen an increase in business.

Extras auditions were held Aug. 27 in Colorado Springs. Thousands of people showed up. There was another extras audition in Florence where hundreds of people arrived.

Movie makers filmed the Pioneer Day Parade in Florence for the movie Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016. The Parade went around twice so the crew could get more footage. One float was from the "Holt Chamber of Commerce." A source close to the production revealed the filmmakers planned to re-shoot the parade scenes altogether.

The parade reenactment included the Shriners, the high school band, and twirling groups. Robert Redford and Jane Fonda walked hand in hand down the street for the parade reenactment for the film. According to a local, Fonda had on a long sleeve pink shirt with a golden tan colored long skirt. Redford wore a blue plaid shirt.

Crews filmed in the Florence bowling alley Fremont Lanes on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016. An extra, who was part of the bowling scene, said it was crazy to be that close to Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. The same evening from 4 to 11 pm the film crew had the street lights turned off and provided their lighting for night scenes on Main Street. There were two lifts with giant spotlights. Lights facing out business windows illuminated the street too.

Crews were scheduled to be filming in the Florence hardware store, True Value on Monday, Oct. 10, 2016. According to a Florence local, the Bell Tower is scheduled to be used for a funeral scene the same day. The Florence Arts Council owns the Bell Tower. The structure is an old Baptist church from 1898.

Redford and Fonda are rumored to have stayed at the luxurious Broadmoor resort. Hair and make-up people stayed at the Florence Rose Bed and Breakfast.

Redford has been spotted eating at local restaurants in the evening. A local commented he dined at Ito's, a Japanese restaurant in Florence. Additionally, onlookers located Redford at the restaurant Petit Chablis. Fonda had not been seen eating at local restaurants.
