Miami Marlins Pitcher Jose Fernandez Dies in Boating Accident

The Miami Marlin's superstar Major League Baseball pitcher Jose Fernandez dies in a tragic boating accident. Fernandez died early Sunday in a boating accident in Miami Beach. According to the MLB, The Marlins released the following statement.

"The Miami Marlins organization is devastated by the tragic loss of Jose Fernandez. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time."

The death of the 24-year-old lead to the cancellation of Miami's series finale. The series finale
had been scheduled for 1:10 Eastern on Sunday with the Braves at Marlins Park.

Fernandez was a two-time All-Star. According to Intouch, Jose's girlfriend Carla Mendoza is pregnant.
