Fans Can Expect Mallrats Sequel

Fans can expect a sequel to the cult classic Mallrats. Director and star Kevin Smith made the announcement. According to US Weekly, Smith commented Clerks III is filming in May. He went on to detail other upcoming projects, Hit Somebody and Moose Jaws. Smith then alluded to a new Mallrats.

He confirmed the movie for the first time during a radio interview. The movie is anticipated to arrive in theaters 20 years after the original, which debuted in 1995.The romantic comedy is about friends antics at the mall after two best friends are dumped by their girlfriends. Mallrats stars Shannen Doherty, Ben Affleck, Jeremy London, and Jason Lee, among others. Jason Mewes plays Jay and director/actor Kevin Smith is Silent Bob.  

The Mallrats director said the new project is half a script right now. He went on, "I mean, we've got up until the beginning of 2016... By the time we get to May 2016, we’re going to be shooting... It kind of came out of nowhere."

Smith claims no one is clamoring for the sequel. I disagree.
