The Duchess of Cambridge delivers a baby boy. The official announcement was placed outside the palace.
The announcement said "Her royal highness the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4:24 pm. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."
Their child is third in line for the throne.
The AP initially reported the Duchess in labor. Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge went to the hospital's Lindo Wing before 6 am UK time.
The Duchess arrived at the same hospital wing where Princess Diana delivered Prince William.
There were reports Saturday the Duchess had moved to Kensington Palace from her parent's. Kensington Palace is closer to where she would deliver.
You may recall fans were gathering outside of the hospital for the past couple weeks. There are reports people were growing bored because nothing was happening. A man dressed in a flag hat and clothing livened up the scene.
Earlier the Duchesses' family member said the couple was expecting a girl. The baby is a boy. Fans were making bets on the gender and child's name.
Congratulations Prince William and Kate.
