Academy Awards Recap

The Academy Awards drew in 40. 3 million viewers Sunday night. The telecast claims the title
of highest rated awards show.

Ben Affleck's Argo Nabs Best Picture. Affleck is snubbed from the director category. He did not receive a nomination for the best director category for Argo. He produced, directed, and starred in the film.

Daniel Day Lewis wins Best Actor for his performance in Lincoln. Jennifer Lawrence wins Best Actress for Silver Linings Play Book. Lawrence stumbled on her way to receive her Academy Award. The actress received a standing ovation for her fall.

Lawrence left press members laughing at her off the cuff jokes in post Oscar win interviews.

Quvenzhané Wallis makes history as the youngest Oscar nominee. Wallis is nominated for Beasts of the Southern Wild. The young actress is causing people to compare her to film star Dakota Fanning.

Wallis works the red carpet. She explains to an interviewer about her fluffy, sparkly dress and her puppy purse accessory. The purse looks like a stuffed animal dog.

Octavia Spencer is on hand to present. Octavia won Best Supporting Actress last year for The Help.
The star wears a beige gown with a taffeta shawl. She shines bright and looks good for the Oscars.

Anne Hathaway wins Best Supporting Actress for Les Miserables. Post win interviews brought tears to her eyes when she explained it was a dream of mine to win an Oscar. Her dream is realized.

Ang Lee wins for Best Director for Life of Pi. A theory abounds his win is due to level of difficulty of filming. Life of Pi was considered an 'unfilmable movie.'

Quentin Tarentino wins Best Screenplay for Djano Unchained.

Amour is the Best Foreign Film winner. Brave wins for Best Animated Feature.

After the awards show stars attend the Vanity Fair Party and Governors Ball.
