Andre 3000 to Portray Jimi Hendrix

Andre 3000 will capture Jimi Hendrix in the movie All Is By My Side."  He said he had to stop thinking of Hendrix as a musical icon. Andre 3000 talked at a Gillette event. The singer is a spokesman for the company. Andre has appeared in Gillette commercials and was a singer for the group Outkast.  

The actor spoke candidly about his goatee and mustache. He said he cut most of his facial hair to portray Hendrix.  

The singer said he had to think of Jimi as a person. People don't know they're an icon until they are told they're an icon. He asked what would Jimi want people to know. Andre said he didn't want to say too much about the film. He didn't want to reveal the movie plot line.

According to the AP, Hendrix died in 1970 at 27-years-old. He was ranked Number one on Rolling Stone's list of greatest guitarists of all-time. His band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, is known for iconic albums.

OutKast's 2006 platinum-selling album, Idlewild, was there last. There's speculation Andre 3000 will go solo. The singer said he's not in a rush to record an album.
