Princess Diana statue to be erected on the grounds of Kensington Palace

The Duke of Cambridge, William, and Prince Harry want to commemorate the life of their mom, Princess Diana. 20 years have passed since her death. Kensington Palace has announced her sons requested a statue of Princess Diana be built on the grounds of the palace in the public gardens. The Princes convened a committee to commission and privately raise funds for the sculpture.

The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry stated: "It has been 20 years since our mother's death and the time is right to recognize her positive impact in the U.K. and around the world with a permanent statue. Our mother touched so many lives. We hope the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on her life and her legacy."

It is unknown when exactly the statue will be unveiled but it could be before the end of 2017.
