Mary Tyler Moore passes away at 80
Mary Tyler Moore, known for her comedy on a 70s show, dies at a Connecticut hospital.
Mary Tyler Moore's representative issued a statement to to TMZ, "...beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S Robert Levine." According to TMZ, Moore had been on a respirator for more than a week. She was taken off life support Tuesday night.
Mary rose to fame on "The Dick Van Dyke Show. She had seven successful seasons of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" from 1970 to 1977. She proved skeptics, who thought her show was destined for failure, wrong.
She earned an Oscar nomination for the 1980 movie "Ordinary People."
Mary also won seven Emmys.
She got her start modeling in a commercial for "Happy Hotpoint." She played a tiny elf that danced on appliances.
