Critics Diss Duchess of Cambrige's Portrait

The Duchess of Cambridge's photo is unveiled Friday. The art was displayed at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

There is a dark background. Kate is shown with a half smile. According to the AP, Artist Paul Emsley said he pushes a portrait beyond mere realism. Emsley looks for something original.

Kate and Prince William were there for the unveiling. They said the work is "amazing and absolutely beautiful."

Critics said the artwork is "dull and lifeless" and "it fails to capture her beauty."
